3D Fixator
High-tech 3D Fixator
An innovative immobilization has been introduced for the first time in Georgia. The use of a state-of-the-art 3D fixator for post-traumatic and therapeutic treatment is currently available at “New Hospitals”.
What are the functions of a 3D fixator and what does this device offer in terms of clinical care?
The 3D fixator is designated to enhance therapeutic efficacy and elevate the standard of living. This medical intervention is used for a spectrum of conditions ranging from fractures, dislocations, muscle and tendon injuries or strains, arthritis, and arthrosis, to post-operative treatment. In certain instances, it serves as a substitute for plaster and enhances the patient’s treatment experience through its elevated level of convenience.
Advantages of the utilization of 3D fixator
The efficacy of the 3D fixator lies in its ability to establish and maintain the injured body segment in a predetermined position, thereby mitigating pain, facilitating muscular stabilization, and expediting the recuperation process by 15-20%. The lightness and customized design of this tool offers a reduction in the discomfort typically experienced when utilizing conventional immobilization methods (e. g. plaster). When utilizing the three-dimensional fixator, patients demonstrate a decrease in concern regarding:
- cutaneous irritation, pruritus, and ulceration
- risk of infection
- exponential reduction of muscle mass
- limited contact with water
- substantial weight and inflexibility that results in an inability to carry out routine activities of daily living (fitting clothes, self-care, movement, etc.)
- hygiene and aesthetic factors
The special design of a fixator has received the Red Dot design award. The spiral cut design serves to strengthen the structural integrity of the 3D fixator and enhances its capacity to withstand potential impacts.
The design of the apertures fitted to the organic contours of the limb, with rounded extremities to facilitate the removal of water and moisture while protecting the skin from the inconvenient effects of dampness. During the period following a surgical procedure, it becomes possible to treat the wound, and the scar and observe it while maintaining immobilization. The apertures facilitate the performance of medical manipulations such as magnetotherapy, electrotherapy, etc. by the physician, without removing the fixator. The use of a specifically designed closing system allows the formation of a space of several millimetres during post-inflammatory processes. This mechanism facilitates the secure fixation of the affected limb without inducing undue pressure or compression on the injured region.
How is the 3D fixator made?
The fixator is customized on an individual basis for each patient. The manufacturing process is fully automated and retains an overall level of simplicity.
Through the utilization of a specialized apparatus, any anatomical region can be scanned with rapidity in under 2 minutes, resulting in the creation of a 3-dimensional image with a degree of precision of 100%. Utilizing the obtained images and 3D printing methodology, a customized fixator is created.
International recognition
The 3D fixator has gained widespread recognition as an essential tool in the treatment of patients and is by the world’s leading medical institutions (Mayo Clinic, Hospital Germans Trias I Pujol, Rabin Medical Center, etc.). The entire production chain of this product conforms to the ISO biocompatibility standard. Moreover, the product has been certified by Conformité Européenne (CE) as well as by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Where is the 3D fixator available?
The fixator is available for patients attending the Orthopedics and Traumatology Center, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. In planned cases, the fixator may be made for both adults and pediatric patients. New Hospitals represents a multi-disciplinary medical establishment that offers a range of essential advantages. These advantages include the incorporation of state-of-the-art technologies, the promotion of ongoing professional development among highly competent medical staff, and the implementation of innovative services that aim to provide patients with access to state-of-the-art medical advancements on an international scale.
