Joint meeting on interventional radiology advances
On April 13, New Hospitals and Georgian Association of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology held a joint meeting, where the latest achievements and innovations in the field of interventional radiology were presented.
The meeting was led by Malkhaz Mizandari, interventional radiologist, Doctor of Medicine, Professor of TSMU, Head of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Department of New Hospitals, who talked about the possibilities of interventional radiology, namely about the transarterial embolization of the uterine myoma and provided examples of successful clinical case.
The experience of the same department was presented as a demonstration of exclusive case of liver cancer by Tamta Azurmelashvili, Doctor of Medical Sciences.
Professor Bora Peynircioglu, the Director of Radiology Programs of Ankara Hacettepe University, made a presentation at the meeting and presented to the guests the advances in transarterial embolization in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma, uterine myoma and benign prostatic hyperplasia. He also spoke according to European and US guidelines about interventions of interventional radiology in oncology practice used to prolong and improve the patient’s quality of life.
Based on the latest achievements of modern medicine, the interventional radiology, which involves minimal invasive (without incision) diagnostic and medicinal manipulations, allows the patient to achieve maximum results with minimal intervention and significantly improve the quality of life.
