What is paraproctitis?

Paraproctitis is a purulent inflammatory process in the fatty tissue surrounding the rectum. As the condition progresses, damaged tissue areas expand, forming multiple abscesses that spread in various directions. Paraproctitis often develops as a complication of hemorrhoids, anal fissures, or other proctological conditions. 

How does paraproctitis develop?

The cause of paraproctitis is an infection that, upon reaching the soft tissues around the anus, triggers the development of purulent processes. The disease typically originates from an anal crypt. 

What are the symptoms of paraproctitis?

The main symptoms of paraproctitis include: 

• Persistent pulsating pain; 
• Pain during defecation; 
• High fever; 
• Weakness; 
• Chills; 
• Redness of the skin around the anus.
