Cornea and Ocular Surface Diseases

Cornea and ocular surface diseases

The cornea is a transparent part of the eye that gives optical power to most part of the eye and covers the iris, the pupil and the external chamber of the eye.

The National Center for Ophthalmology applies the ultra-modern methods of treatment of cornea and ocular surface diseases, including the treatment of keratoconus, conjunctiva, and sclera. The National Center for Ophthalmology also offers special ophthalmological services, such as artificial and natural (donor) cornea transplantation. The latest, artificial corneal surgery material produced by “Boston K” is used for the treatment of burns of the cornea.

SERVICES FOR THE TREATMENT OF KERATOCONUS:

  • Early keratoconus diagnostics with Oculus Pentacam
  • Treatment of stage I and II of keratoconus by cross-linking and penetration of the cornea with a femto-laser
  • Treatment of stage III and IV keratoconus by cornea transplantation through the retinal donor (cornea transplant is obtained from Baltimore, USA, Tissue Bank)
