The National Center of Ophthalmology has 128 years tradition of treatment of eye diseases. The Center is equipped with high-tech equipment and is the leader in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of eye diseases. The National Center of Ophthalmology provides the full spectrum of ophthalmological services, and it is the only eye center in the Transcaucasia, recognized as the Transcaucasia regional refractive surgery center by Carl Zeiss and the German Economic Development Council. 128 years of experience of eye disease treatment
The National Center of Ophthalmology has 128 years of history and century-old treatment of ophthalmologic diseases. In 1892, the first Georgian outstanding ophthalmologist Giorgi Tarsaidze founded the Charity Hospital of Eye Diseases, which later became the base for the establishment of the Eye Disease Clinic. The Republican Clinical Hospital of Eye Diseases was named after Giorgi Tarsaidze. Currently, this hospital is functioning on the territory of the clinic “New Hospitals” under the name of the National Center of Ophthalmology.

- 3D OCT – TOPCON: Optical coherence tomography of the fundus of eye (Topographical survey of retina), FAF - fundus autofluorescence, FAG - fluorescent angiography.
- Heidelberg Retina Tomography II: provides a possibility of diagnosing glaucomatous disease before its symptoms become noticeable for the patient. The tomography measures the optical nerve disc parameters and makes accurate evaluation of damage caused by glaucoma.
- Alcon Centurion: phacoemulsification system used for conducting the latest cataract operation.
- Carl Zeiss VisuMax Femtosecond Laser and MEL90 Excimer Laser: for conducting laser correction of the vision (refractive surgery) and laser treatment procedures of keratoconus.
- Cross-Linking Peschke System: The ultraviolet radiation of the cornea, the keratoconus treatment.
- Alcon Constellation: vitreoretinal surgery system.
- Oculus Pentacam: Used for early diagnosis of keratoconus.
